Drawing 1 Hero-Role Model

Write one a few paragraphs explaining why you chose the person you did for your live stock marker drawing and how they influence your life in a positive manner.  Also take time to write about the process of blending only primary colors and how your work relates to that of Vincent Van Gogh's.

  1. I chose to paint Kate Mckinnon because she has brought so much joy and laughter to my life. With her parts in Saturday Night Live and some comedy movies, she has provided a new perspective on comedy in America. Whenever I turn on Saturday Night Live, I look forward to watching Kate. The process of blending only primary colors was challenging for me because I am bad at art and could not make brown. It was really challenging for me to make skin color and the roots of Kate's hair. My work relates to Vincent Van Gogh because Vincent used bright colors to create art and we used bright primary colors to make our portrait.

  2. For my live stock marker drawing I chose to draw Jimmy Fallon. I chose Jimmy Fallon because he makes people happy. I think that his comedy makes a difference in people's lives because of this. To make this drawing I used a mixture of a few colors to create all the colors needed. This style relates to Vincent Van Gogh because he created portraits just like I did.

  3. I think Adele is a role model in my life because she is all about her family and her music. She normally makes an album, goes on tour, then goes away for a while in Europe with her family. She is really not selfish, she even broke her grammy to share with Beyonce because she thought she deserved it more. She has won tons of Grammys for her music. Also I went to a concert of hers this last summer and it was amazing.

I think my role model related to Van Gogh work because of the hair, the hair was a bunch of colors but ended up looking mostly brown with streaks of color.

  4. For my live stock marker drawing was a picture of Harry Potter. Harry is my role model because he never gives up. I really hope I get accepted into Hogwarts this year because I heard Harry is teaching the Defense Against the Dark Arts class! I just know in my bones I'm not a muggle. Sometimes when I get mad weird things start to happen. One time I got mad and all of the candles in my house lit up. Basically Harry Is my role model because I've always wanted to be a wizard like him and help him fight he who shall not be named.

  5. The reason I chose Sophia Bush as my role model is not only her acting skills but how she is as an actual person. Her selflessness is inspiring and her drive to get what she wants is incredible. She is the kind of women I strive to be and would like to be in the future. She is always going above and beyond and isn’t your normal selfish actor she actually cares and actually makes a difference and many people’s lives and that's what I love about her.

  6. I drew and painted Tana Mongeau. She inspires me because she has done and gone through a lot, and has gotten through all of it. She tells all her stories on Youtube to help others going through the same problems that she went through. Tana inspires me to make good decisions and be a better person. She is also really funny and relatable. She also sets up tours where she gets to meet all of her fans, which is really nice.

  7. For my live stock marker drawing, I chose to draw Will Smith. I chose Will Smith because he is such a powerful person and has so much compassion for others. Before Fresh Prince of Bel-air became a big hit, he nearly went bankrupt in his early twenties. He has influenced me from his tv shows and his movies by how he is so positive in bad situations and how he finds the good in something negative. Using live stock markers to blend colors and such was somewhat hard because I didn't like mixing colors. This style relates to the method Van Gogh used to create his portraits.

  8. I did a live stock marker drawing of Jeffery Dean Morgan. I chose him for his role on The Walking Dead. He is just trying to be the ruler of the post apocalyptic world and even called his group the Saviors. I found blending colors to be really hard. I believe my work can relate to Van Gogh because no matter what I didn't give up.

  9. For my live stock marker project I drew my brother. I chose him because of how big of an influence he's had on my life. He is in the military risking his life to try and save the rest of ours. To get the colors that I needed to paint this, I had to blend colors. I didn't find it all that hard, just really time consuming.

  10. I did a Live Stock drawing of Russel Westbrook. He is a great athlete and always tries his best. Russel plays on a very good team and still end up getting triple doubles. Russel is a great person but it was hard to blend the browns. I did not like mixing the colors when the orange went out.

  11. I chose Kanye West because he is the best. He makes some rocking clothing items. He inspires me to be good at life. This project was difficult because I had to make a lot of brown. This relates to Van Gogh because he also did drawing and things.

  12. My live stock drawing is of my hero, Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney is a virtuous warrior and a good Mormon boy. Mitt Romney is on a constant grind, going back and forth between Medicare and Jesus. Mitt Romney is a brave, courageous, valiant, valorous, bold, fearless, daring, audacious, superhuman boy. I feel that my work relates to Van Gogh because I am just as good as him.

  13. Adele was my role model for my livestock drawing because she's always been my favorite artist ever since I was little. Every time I go to karaoke i only sing adele songs because I feel i can match pitch with her and feel confident singing her music. Listening to her music is one of my top coping skills. She amazes me how she can have such a blank relaxed face while singing, she doesn't even have to try to sound good. I feel i related to Van Gogh because i didn't give up no matter how far behind i was.

  15. I chose Steph Curry for the livestock marker drawing because he is clutch at basketball. He influences my life in a positive way by how good he is at basketball. This makes me push myself in sports and also in school to be a better me. The process of blending only primary colors was really hard at first, but once you got the hang of it, it wasn't the hard. At first I couldn't make the right skin color but eventually figure it out. My art work relates to Vincent Van Gogh because in the project we mixed the primary colors together to make other color and thats what he did.

  20. For my hero/role model I chose Drew Brees. I chose him for a variety of reason. One of the biggest reasons is because my favorite NFL team is the Saints. I like the Saints because my cousin used to play for them from 2008-2010. This was during the time when they won the Super Bowl in 2009. My cousin was a tight end and often talked with Drew and was involved with him. My cousin has told me many stories of how nice he was and how welcome he made him feel at the Saints. Drew even invited him over for Thanksgiving one year and got to enjoy it with him. I always thought this was really cool because Drew Brees is a pretty big star in the NFL. In a lot of cases you hear about how mean an NFL player or star is outside of the big stage and how much their teammates or coaches don’t like them because they are full of it. This is one of the biggest reasons why I consider him a role model. Despite being famous and a star in the NFL, he still treats everyone with respect and is just as good of a guy off the field as he is on it. I admire this a lot about him and I think it is a good thing for kids and others to look up to. This is why I chose him for my project.
Blending the colors is very different than just coloring something in. I colored the entire face with just a light coat of skin color. I thought it looked pretty good but then Mr. Mitchell came over and darkened some other spots along with blending the skin with some browns and blacks. This gave the picture a whole new look that seemed much more life like. This is very tricky to see in a picture or photo and is something that was tough for me to recognize also. Many times after you blend something with a different color it doesn’t really look right, but once you finish everything with that color, it looks a lot better and more lifelike. Overall, I would say blending colors is not easy and is something that needs to be practiced constantly. However, it is well worth it because it gives the picture a much more real life and alive look to it.

    1. I like what you wrote about Drew Brees. It is true that there are actually very few role models in the NFL nowadays and it is so cool that he is just a regular guy just like the rest of us. Also I agree with you about the colors blending colors was somewhat difficult but it really does bring a lot of life to the picture.

  21. For my drawing I chose Gandalf because he is one of my favorite characters in movies. I look up to him because of the way he goes at things. He is chill even through the toughest times and he always has a solution even when there is no hope. He seems old and wise and that is something good to look up to.

  22. I chose Harley Quinn because she seems like she is a selfless person in the beginning and she does things for other people without receiving things in return. She is very concentrated on what she wants and is seen as a little crazy by some people. Her relationship with the Joker is really manipulative but also has affection. He would use her and attempts to kill her until he realizes his feelings. After she met Ivy, she finally took control of the relationship and got revenge on Batman and the Joker with her help. Harley Quinn was in a bad spot and then eventually bounced back. Eventually she turned on people and people turned on her. Overall she did things she shouldn't have but that shows what life can do to you if you've had a hard time in something.

  23. When I was measuring out the face I had a hard time getting my eyes to look right. but I had a rather easy time with the lips. While I shaded the eyes it started to turn out much better then it had been in just the sketch stage. The nose ended up looking a little larger than I planned but It ended up not looking too bad. The neck on the sketch and shade was a lot wider than on the super Hero/villian.

When I was trying to blend the colors of Harley Quinn's face it started to look a little orange so I started to blend a little more white and brown into the orange patches. As I continued to blend the colors it started to turn back to the correct shade of peach and tan. I liked how the eye turned out with the greens blues and grey with the black looked as it continued to darken with each pencil stroke it became more and more realistic.

  24. For my hero drawing project I chose Tony Stark as Iron Man. I chose Iron Man because he is a positive influence in my life. Iron Man is a character that is trying to create and do good in the world. He fights off bad with good.
Iron Man is a role model for me. I want to follow in some of his ways such as doing good and disagreeing with the bad. Iron Man wants to eliminate the bad for people around him even if it is at the expense of his own health.
I really enjoyed the coloring part of this project. Before this project I had never thought of colored pencils the way that I do now. You can create any colors through blending them together. Adding blue, black, and violet into the red suit brought it to life. Mixing different colors also created facial features, glares, and a more realistic drawing. This projected was very enjoyable for me because I like to draw and I learned how to create more realistic figures and faces.

  25. I chose Shelley for my hero drawing project. I chose Shelley because she is a positive role model in my life. She always makes sure everyone has what they need to have a successful day. Shelley goes above and beyond with anything you ask for to all the kids at DNH. She greets you every time she see's you, smiles at you and if she see's that you need help she always jumps to help without complaining. Shelley is very underpaid and under appreciated. I admire all of those qualities in her.
I could say that I really enjoyed this project but honestly it was okay. Before I colored the Shelley sketch she looked really scary. But, after coloring she started to look better. It was cool to see the characters come to life. After trying out a few colors when coloring her skin tone I figured out that the white colored pencil was perfect for certain spots in the skin. White used to be the color that I never used and didn't think was necessary but now I like using it and now I know all that it is capable of doing.
